HISTORICAL INFORMATION 2019/2020 PARADES

​Hyack International Parade and Spring Band Camp

Saturday, May 23rd - Sunday, May 24th, 2020 | Meet in the Band Room at 6:00am
New Westminsnter, BC Canada and Camp Casey, Whidbey Island


​The 48th Annual International Parade is a great kick-off to our Spring Parade Season.  Students will enjoy dinner in Vancouver after the parade, and head back across the border for an overnight at Camp Casey on Whidbey Island.  Transportation is by Charter Bus.
The estimated cost for this event is between $180 and $200 and includes breakfast on May 23rd, an overnight at Camp Casey, breakfast and lunch on May 24th, touring buses, ferry and snacks.  Scholarship funds are available just fill out the form here.

This event requires a passport, certified birth certificate, or green card for border crossing.  Marching Band students/parents who cannot cross the border should talk to Mr. Brown or email rhs@riderband.org to arrange for an alternative transportation plan. We will help you!

Participating students may earn 3 service hours.

2020 Neighborhood Parade

Saturday, June 13th, 2020
Roosevelt Neighborhood

The Roosevelt Neighborhood Parade is our last parade of the season and includes a stop at Bartell Drug Store for a short performance. Students arrive at school in the morning for an all band photograph before marching through the neighborhood. After the parade, a potluck is held in the Commons and surrounding courtyard.  We encourage incoming band students to join in by walking behind the band and sharing in our potluck.

Student report time is 11:30 am.  At 12:15 pm Rowland Studios will take our traditional group photograph.  The parade will begin at 1:00 pm. with Seattle Police escorting.  Motorists can expect a rolling slowdown as the parade makes its way along streets in the Roosevelt district. Participating students may earn 3 service hours.
Route Details are:
Starts at NE 68th Street and  12th Avenue NE;
West on 68th to Roosevelt Way NE;
South on Roosevelt to NE 64th Street;
Wast on 64th to 12th Avenue NE;
turn into the parking lot of Roosevelt Square
​    to play in front of Bartell’s;
North on 12th to NE 69th Street;
East on 69th to 15th Avenue NE;
North on 15th to NE 70th Street;
East on 70th to 20th Avenue NE;
South on 20th to NE 68th Street;
West on 68th to 15th Avenue NE;
South on 15th to NE 66th Street;
West on 66th to 12th Avenue NE;
North on 12th into the Roosevelt High School parking lot;

Potluck Details are:
Brass: Fruit or dessert to share
Woodwinds: Main dish to share
Percussion: ​Salad or side to share
Please bring enough for approximately 8 people.

Boosters will provide plates, napkins, forks and spoons and water.

2019 Macy's Holiday Parade

Downtown Seattle

The Roosevelt Rough Rider Marching Band celebrates the holiday season at the annual Macy's Holiday Parade and Star Lighting Ceremony. The parade includes festive floats, costumed characters, local community groups, and your Rough Rider Band all followed by Santa.

The Macy's Holiday Parade commences at 9 AM on the corner of 7th Ave. and Pine St., and will travel West down Pine to 5th Ave., South on 5th to University St., West on University to 4th Ave. and then North on 4th before concluding at the front of Macy's Department Store at approximately 11 AM. 

 We need chaperones to ride downtown with our students and walk the parade route in uniform. (black pants, black shoes and one of our pep band jackets) Festive hat optional. Click here to help.
