Ensembles

2022-2023 Lab Fee:  There is a lab fee of $100.00 to cover the cost of music, school buses, instrument repair and coaches - $50 to be paid to the school (via School Pay) and $50 to RHS Band Boosters (via the "Donate" button on this site).  You also have the option to pay the $50 Booster fee via check, made out to RHS Band Boosters with your student's name in the memo line, then returned to the mailbox in the band room. 

​Concert Band: This ensemble is open to all incoming freshman band students and no audition is required. Members are encouraged to participate in Marching Band and Basketball Pep Band. 
Concert Band Performance Attire: White, long sleeved collared dress shirt or blouse (women have the option of 3/4 length sleeve), Black tie optional.  Black dress slacks or long skirt.  Black dress shoes with black socks or hose. No spaghetti straps, bare shoulders, or flip flops.

Symphonic Band: This ensemble consists primarily of upperclassmen. Symphonic Band is an advanced ensemble with emphasis on demanding band literature in a variety of styles. Members are encouraged to participate in Marching Band and Basketball Pep Band. 
Symphonic Band Performance Attire: All black concert formal attire. (see above for details).

Wind Ensemble:
Wind Ensemble was added in 2016 as an opportunity for students to push themselves to excel in a variety of musical styles. Participation in the Wind Ensemble is by audition/teacher recommendation only. 
​Wind Ensemble Performance Attire:
Men: Tuxedo with black cumberbund, black bow tie, white tux shirt, black dress shoes and black socks. (In the past, families have purchased tuxes at Men's Warehouse, The Tux Shop, Macy's and other department stores.)
Women:  Long black dress or black long sleeved (or 3/4 length sleeved blouse) with long skirt or black dress slacks.  Black dress shoes with black dress socks or black hose.  No spaghetti straps, bare shoulders or flip flops. 

Percussion Ensemble: This ensemble consists of students who play percussion instruments. Class meets daily and receives additional support from clinicians. Students will be expected to perform both as the Percussion Ensemble and join the other Bands for concerts. Members are encouraged to participate in Marching Band and Basketball Pep Band. 
Percussion Ensemble Performance Attire: All black concert formal attire.
