CWU trip forms went home Thursday, but if your student is missing their copies, you can find all the info you need on the website.
Here is the link to the info sheet, the permission form, and for those who are chaperoning (THANK YOU!), the background check form, and the health form:

A lot of freshmen are missing their mandatory Health Forms...freshman parents, please download and return this as well.
Students without a Health Form or Permission Form cannot attend! 

A huge shout-out to the parents who have offered to chaperone!  Your support is fantastic, thank you for stepping up.

Can’t go but want to help out? We could use some snacks for the trip! Please contact Cathy Mashburn and let her know what you can donate.

All Symphonic and Concert Band Families – Get Ready for Ellensburg!

THIS IS HAPPENING... On Friday March 6th, 2015, the RHS Symphonic and Concert Bands will travel to Ellensburg, WA for the Central Washington University Wind Ensemble Festival! We are proud to be invited to this prestigious festival. Our Symphonic Band will perform and be adjudicated, and all members are needed. Concert Band students will also attend to observe and learn. Our students will also listen to other excellent high school bands perform. This trip is really fun!
 
Cost: $45 per student (this covers transportation, registration and box dinner) 

Information sheets and permission forms are going home with students later this week, and will be available on the RHS Band website.

Please make checks payable to Roosevelt Band Boosters and return with permission form to the Marching Band Box in the Band Room or by mail to RHS Band, PO Box 15617, Seattle WA 98115 by Monday, March 2nd, 2015. Please return permission slips and payment no later than Monday, March 2. If your student has not turned in a completed Health Form, please find that on the RHS Band website: http://www.riderband.org/forms.html
Students without a Health Form cannot attend! 

Schedule for Friday March 6th:
9:00am: Arrive at RHS Band Room and load buses  
9:30am: Depart for Ellensburg
11:30am-12:00pm: Listen to Bands perform (subject to change depending on arrival time)
12:00pm: Lunch Break (subject to change depending on arrival time)
2:00pm: Symphonic Band Performs
6:00pm: Depart for Seattle
8:00pm: Arrive RHS (approximately)

What to Bring:
$15 for lunch on campus (a box dinner on the bus ride home will be provided)
Symphonic Band members, bring your instruments and music!
 
What to Wear:
Symphonic Band: black on black concert attire (including black socks/ shoes), should be clean and comfortable. You will be wearing it all day.
Concert Band: dress neatly in school clothes.
Everyone: bring a jacket or hoodie as Ellensburg is cold and windy!
Chaperones:
We will need five or six chaperones to help the trip coordinator. Please let us know as soon as possible if you can join us. If needed, you will find the SPS Background Check form on the website.

Oh Yeah! Go Riders!!

Thank you for the great turnout at our Band Boosters meeting - and for those of you who missed it, stay tuned! And thanks to Mr. Brown for his ongoing support, enthusiasm, time and patience!

We have some great opportunities coming up, for our kids as well as for parents to volunteer and support the band program, and our kids. Stay tuned!


If you are interested in helping out, here are some upcoming events:

 

March 6: CWU Wind Festival, a day-long event in Ellensburg, at CWU's amazing performing arts center. Chaperones are needed!

March 26 (tentative): our "April Foolz" Concert - not to be missed! This will be combined with the Orchestra, and of course the traditional Bake Sale

May 23-24: Hyack Parade (in Beautiful British Columbia) followed by the Spring Band Camp at Camp Casey on Whidbey Island. We need one-two parents to take the lead, plus other parents to chaperone. Great event for parents of Senior students!

June 6: Portland Rose Parade! This is a prestigious event, and RHS has been invited back to for the third straight year. Thanks to Marika Wong for taking the lead on this...but we need lots of parents to help out!

June 13: Roosevelt Neighborhood Parade and BBQ! This really wraps up the school year, and gives the Marching Band a chance to celebrate in our neighborhood. Thanks to Tom Davies for stepping up to lead this event! We need other parents to come forward and help out as well.

 

Our kids have done a tremendous job this year...let's give them the support they've earned and deserve, and make these fantastic events happen!

We have a lot of fantastic events for the band kids this Spring! And there's something for everyone: Concert and Symphonic Bands plus Marching Band!

Mr. Brown will join us to provide info on all the parades and events coming up this Spring.  All band parents are welcome - please join us!

Awesomeness abounds - Band Room, 7 pm TONIGHT!

Hello Band Families!

February 10: Pacific Northwest Band Festival
This is a school-day event for the Symphonic Band, taking place on the UW campus.

***We still need parents to help chaperone! This is a school event and therefore we need adults to chaperone to keep within the district guidelines***

CHANGE! February 18: Band Boosters Meeting
THE DATE HAS BEEN CHANGED FROM FEB. 11 TO FEB. 18!
Mr. Brown will join us to provide info on all the parades and events coming up this Spring.  All parents - please join us! And please note that this is not strictly Marching Band, but class bands as well!
Band Room, 7pm.
