A huge THANK YOU! (And some lost and found...)

A huge THANK YOU to everyone for making last weekend such a success! This is a big project - our biggest trip of the year - and we want to thank all the parents who have stepped up and volunteered their time and resources to make this happen. Special thanks to Laurie Berg (a band boosters alum!) and Marika Wong for their leadership, as well as Mr. Brown for his patience and guidance.
  
We couldn't have done it without you!


Also, if your student came home from Band Camp minus a few items, we may have what was missing:
2 sleeping bags
Pair of men's black Royal Robbins pants
White men's t-shirt with lizard or gecko design
Black/white stripe sport shorts
A men's gold toe black sock

Getting Ready for Portland Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade, June 6th!

Hello Band Families!
The Marching Band is getting ready for Portland, to march in the Portland Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade on June 6th! This is a huge honor and a fun event.

In addition to the parade itself, the RHS Drum Line will have a separate performance. Students will also have time to enjoy the Fair. Please mark your calendars:
June 3: Permission forms/payment due
June 6: Students need to be ready for a big, full day!

What can YOU do? We will need chaperones, snacks and water, just for starters. If you can help out, please contact Marika Wong (marikawong@aol.com) for info.

Details to follow, forms will be sent home with students shortly, and more info will be available via email.

Band Families, we have two important dates for you this week...

May 14: Band Boosters general meeting: 
7pm in the RHS Commons
Mr. Brown and the Boosters Board will update everyone on upcoming band events and the program. This will be the last general meeting of the year...don't miss it!

May 15: Hyack Parade / Spring Band Camp forms & payment are due

Forms and detailed information can be found here: http://www.riderband.org/forms.html
Forms were available to students last week as well. Your completed/signed forms and payment must be returned by May 15.  
Chaperones are needed (and FREE)! We have several people who have stepped up (thank you!) and need more.   This is also the last big event for Seniors, so many senior parents might want to think about doing this.

It's time to gear up for the Hyack Parade and Spring Band Camp weekend!

Date: Memorial weekend, May 23-24 (home that Sunday evening)
Location: Westminster BC, then to Camp Casey on Whidbey Island
Cost: $150 (scholarships available)
Border crossing: Students and chaperones have some specific ID requirements for crossing into Canada and back.

 ***Students will not be allowed to attend without proper ID***

This will also go home with students next week. Please note: you can keep the first page for your information, and return the second page with payment, for registration.

What do we need? YOU! Chaperones are needed! We have several people who have stepped up (thank you!) and need more. We need a couple more to attend from the beginning, but you can also help with the Camp Casey part. If you're interested in driving to Camp Casey Saturday afternoon, so you're there for the camp portion, that's a great option. This is also the last big event for Seniors, so many senior parents might want to think about doing this. Chaperones are free!
